Trestles June 2008 better res Posted by: kennykeyboard
Video duration: 187 seconds I redid the "Hot trestles" video for those who may have thought it too grainy. Notice how the wave stands up at Cottons. There is some mush at Lowers. Several riders get good turns and lines. People just enjoyed the water. Related: surfing, trestles, california, san, onofre Display Video Comments | Hide Video Comments | Add Comment |

VAZ modular soft synth version 253 Posted by: kennykeyboard
Video duration: 286 seconds Running step sequencer on a few sounds and qwerty entry on another. No samples, just the virtual modules despite the likeness to a "dreamy" sound. At the end there's a dancing penguin. Related: soft, synth, electronic, music, sequencer, virtual, analog, happy, feet Display Video Comments | Hide Video Comments | Add Comment |

Military jets fly over Posted by: kennykeyboard
Video duration: 32 seconds From my neighborhood the military jets which flew over for the Chargers-Jets playoff game could be seen. The file size is large, but since the jets are fast, it might be best. The Roland keytar is used for the last comp. Dog Beach Surfing January 10, 10 Posted by: kennykeyboard
Video duration: 93 seconds Similar to the December 28th swell. The better surfers were on it at 4pm. Some were getting shacked but the doggie door closed out on a lot of them. The line up was filled pretty good. Related: ob, surfing, good, waves, water, sports, dog, beach, jetty Display Video Comments | Hide Video Comments | Add Comment |

Dog Beach surf on December 28 2009 Posted by: kennykeyboard
Video duration: 44 seconds Short example of the chest to overhead surf around 3pm on Monday Dec 28, 2009. Very strong rips and milky froth gave way to a few open faces and some riders took advantage near the jetty rocks. This was lower tide. More moderate tides at standout areas had better form and thus more bodies in the water for what was considered challenging conditions. Needless to say, it wasn't a day to use a fish. Roland AX 1 keytar playing module sounds Posted by: kennykeyboard
Video duration: 144 seconds I salvaged a few interesting tidbits from an 8mm tape I made of a few synths I owned in 1998. The Ensoniq SQR+ had reverse scale chimes. The K5000r had a reso pad I used for Good King Wenceslaus. The Obmx was set up for sample-and-hold minor thirds. Kt 88 celeste Posted by: kennykeyboard
Video duration: 79 seconds With all the fuss from a certain Japanese mfgr. I thought that I would haul out my old KT88 and play a riff based on the Close Encounters theme with the celeste preset and the Valotti tuning. I found it hard to tell the difference, but then again I was in F#minor. Related: celeste, bells, valotti, tuning, ensoniq, kt, 88 Display Video Comments | Hide Video Comments | Add Comment |

korg trinity EP Posted by: kennykeyboard
Video duration: 140 seconds This full sized synth was a keeper in the late 90's. An improvement from the M1 line, it was eventually replaced with the Triton which has only recently been usurped by the M3 as the flagship series. On this video, I'm circling around G major harmonies on a peice I made up in 1986. The EP is very electronic, perhaps an FM sample. This Trinity also has the MOSS board for modeled sounds Related: 90s, korg, digital, synthesizer, peppy, tune Display Video Comments | Hide Video Comments | Add Comment |

Dancing on skates Posted by: kennykeyboard
Video duration: 146 seconds Forget inline skates, these bros are doing their thing on the original roller skates. Taken in April 2006, several of them are still styling up the pavement at Mission Beach on the weekend. They draw a crowd with their break dance manuevers. This spot is close to Wavehouse where faux waves keep the others busy surfing water jets. Prophet 08 mushy strings playing Posted by: kennykeyboard
Video duration: 206 seconds Modern analog synthesis from Dave Smith follows the familiar process from decades ago when synth had a plethora of knobs. The presence of a long keyboard and touch sensitivity encourages standard repitoire. However, it is real easy to get mush if you go for the fast runs and chromaticisms. Sometimes the best music can be had with few notes and knob tweaking. Related: prophet, analog, synthesizer, mush, cacophony Display Video Comments | Hide Video Comments | Add Comment |

Korg Lambda brass and EP strings Posted by: kennykeyboard
Video duration: 232 seconds The Lambda brass setting by itself uses 2 oscillators which can be detuned. It shares one filter envelope which is more noticeable with staccato playing. The EP strings is nicer since it allows a slow attack for the strings part. The person mentioned at the end has a music theory book with which she will slap me for not resolving my harmonies. Korg Lambda and Prophet 08 Posted by: kennykeyboard
Video duration: 131 seconds The same rhythmic tune is played on both instruments pretty much to demonstrate contrast between a 1979 poly ensemble and a modern analog synth. My neighbors in the early 80's had a reggae band, so I came up with this riff which may or may not be stylistically correct. Korg Lambda strings organ sounds Posted by: kennykeyboard
Video duration: 223 seconds Auditioning of various sounds on this 1979 offering from Korg. The strings had variable attack. The organ was pretty much as you get it. Ensemble, shelving filter, and tone tabs help define the variations possible. It works best for pads and some soloing in this mode. Korg Lambda baroque style Posted by: kennykeyboard
Video duration: 73 seconds Just like something your piano teacher would have you play, this piece was created by me with heavy influences by Bach and Mozart some 25 years ago. Never mind the bobbles. My teacher always told me to keep playing. Related: korg, vintage, synthesizer, analog, stringer, baroque, harpsichord Display Video Comments | Hide Video Comments | Add Comment |

Vintage Synthesizer Minimoog Posted by: kennykeyboard
Video duration: 235 seconds Imagine "We wish you a Merry Christmas" only repeated with increasingly horrid detuned triads. I played with the tuning of the oscillators. Later I play some riffs with mod wheel punctuation and filter sweep. A bit of 'Are you weepin' in there. Vintage Synthesizer Oberheim 4 voice 2nd video Posted by: kennykeyboard
Video duration: 120 seconds I dubbed this from a video tape I made in 1998. On it I had my Polymoog, this synth, and a few others. The music is so so, not polished. I only posted it so that people might see what this machine looked like in terms of excessive knobs. Lots of people liked this synth, maybe a little too much. In the right hands it was a massive and could steam roll over many of today's romplers. Related: analog, polyphonic, oberheim, voice, synthesizer, christmas Display Video Comments | Hide Video Comments | Add Comment |
